The Skipping Stones design is my homage to summer. In this collection small silver circles line up beside an agate like a path of stones,
or rest singly like a promise of summer days by the creek.
Silver curves around a unique stone like sprays of water splashing up as stones skip across a stream.
I go backpacking and camping a few times each year during the summer with my family. It's a special time to enjoy nature and create memories: finding the path across the creek, stepping stone to stone, trying not to let your feet get wet (and the inevitability of someone slipping in eventually!); watching my husband teach our kids how to find the perfect skipping rock. Whenever we go near water eyes always begin searching for rounded flattened stones, and the competition for the highest number of skips begins (my husband always wins)!
We're stacking experiences like cairns on the trail, passed along from my childhood and my husband's to our children, a small tower of memories to mark the pathways of our lives as we grow. We hope that our children will continue these expeditions as adults--and take their own children along for new adventures in the wild.
For my part, I'm always looking for the perfect stone to slip into my pocket, a memento of the trip and something to admire on my windowsill for years to come.
