A freeform rose-cut orange Carnelian cabochon is set in bright 14k gold on a blackened silver backplate. Below the fiery gemstone fine silver wire is meticulously braided and twined into a tight, stepped spiral pattern and then sheathed over sterling silver tubing to give the design strength and structure. At the top of the woven columnar beads a 14k gold ring is threaded through the tubing and connected to the carnelian drop. The silver has been oxidized and given a brushed finish to highlight the pattern, contrasting beautifully with the bright gold accents and deep orange gemstones. The long silver bead swings lightly from the gold ring for beautiful movement.
Entirely handmade from fine (.999) and sterling (.975) silver, the pendant measures 2 1/2" in length from the top of the gold bail. The woven bead has a diameter of 5.5mm and the Carnelian cab measures 9x11mm. The silver chain has a deep black patina and is adjustable with 14k rings at lengths of 22" or 26".
